I was the writer and part of the production team for this elaborate interactive theatre event held in Wellington in 2009.
The show was directed and produced by Eric Dorfman as an Eklektus Inc. production. It was all Eric’s idea, and I was excited to come on board to help bring it to life.
The show dramatised the story of the Diamond Necklace affair that entangled Marie Antoinette and her court in a strange mystery. Guests enjoyed a sumptuous three-course meal while interacting with key figures from the historical story and helping pass judgement on the suspects.
I’m not sure if we’ll ever get to stage it again but maybe the stars will align, or perhaps someone out there would like to discuss the possibility…
There’s a good account of the night on Theatreview.
This video promoting a second mounting of the show (sadly cancelled) contains some good clips of what it all looked like.
